Illinois Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton has been elected to the U.S. Senate.
Stratton was the projected winner almost immediately after the polls closed on Tuesday evening.
“Together we showed that we can center a campaign on the people, not the powerful,” Stratton said.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker supported Stratton financially and on the campaign trail during the Democratic primary and the general election, in which Stratton faced Republican Don Tracy.
“The work of being a voice for working families, however, does not end when the ballots are counted. Those families still need an advocate for common-sense solutions, lower costs and safer communities,” Tracy said.
Independent Whitfield Harrington was also on the ballot.
Stratton is set to take office on January 3, 2027.
