(Springfield, IL) — Roughly 700-thousand Illinoisans are now more than a billion dollars less in debt thanks to the state. The Pritzker administration says it wiped out more than one-point-four billion dollars in medical debt as part of its debt-relief investment program. The average Illinois resident impacted by the program received more than 12-hundred dollars in debt elimination. The governor says, thanks to the initiative, that more than 300-million dollars of that total debt elimination has happened since February of this year alone.
