Fayette County Chamber of Commerce members were educated on energy projects currently being worked on or towards in the area as part of their Lunch and Learn series. One of the guest speakers was Erica Glenn, Senior Development Manager for Key Capture Energy and she spoke on a battery energy storage project in the Ramsey area. I70 Media spoke with Chris Linsmayer of Key Capture further about the project further and with one concern of many projects in the area being the effect on the local environment and local resources, Linsmayer says the battery energy storage has a small footprint and has very little use of or effect on local resources.
With the ability to capture and store energy, another common question with battery energy storage discussions in the area is whether or not local residents will see savings. Linsmayer says while they are out and about now meeting with folks in the area, construction is not set until 2028 and there will be a significant amount of time until it could happen but they do hope Fayette County sees savings and the positive effects that have happened on other areas of the country.
Key Capture has made a website available for the Project near Ramsey called the “KCE IL 2” project and anyone can visit the website at https://keycaptureenergy.com/kceil2/ to find more information including the project timeline and more.
