Whiteside Co Sheriff’s Office Investigating Possible Misuse Of Flock System By Deputy—Earlier this year, Vandalia Police Chief talked about local use of Flock System

The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the possible misuse of the Flock camera system by a deputy. Sheriff John Booker says a Washington Post reporter provided the sheriff’s office with information concerning the use of the Flock camera system. An internal investigation has been launched to determine the facts and whether any sheriff’s office policies, procedures, or other applicable rules were violated. The sheriff’s office’s has suspended use of Flock camera system.

Meanwhile, the cameras have been used locally for the past few years and are seen as a strong tool for law enforcement. Back in July, Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray appeared on our podcast “Talking About Vandalia” and discussed his department’s use of the flock cameras.

And, in further addressing the issue on the podcast, Chief Ray added that access to the cameras was not such a simple situation.

Also, on Thursday, a bipartisan Senate Committee held hearings on the rise of Flock Camera use in the United States.
