(Johnson Co., IL) — A former Johnson County 911 coordinator is admitting to defrauding Johnson, Hardin and Pope counties out of over 100-thousand-dollars. Justin Vaughn pleaded guilty in Johnson County Court to theft of governmental property and official misconduct. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office says from 2017 to 2023, Vaughn submitted fraudulent invoices for 911 system equipment that was never delivered. He then reported to county officials and employees that he used his personal credit cards to pay for the equipment and required immediate reimbursement. Vaughn received more than 690-thousand-dollars in fraudulent reimbursement payments. Sentencing is scheduled for January 13th.
