A new study says union membership is rising and helping taxpayers along the way.
The State of the Unions study from the Illinois Economic Policy Institute and the Project for Middle Class Renewal at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign said Illinois added 24,000 union members last year.
ILEPI economist Frank Manzo said union membership boosts earnings by 11% in Illinois.
Illinois Policy Institute Vice President of Policy and Litigation Mailee Smith said government unions have driven up costs.
The State of the Unions study said the U.S. added more than 400,000 union workers in 2025.
