A project to add sidewalks in area on the western side of Vandalia is progressing along and Vandalia Mayor Doug Knebel updated the Vandalia City Council on that progress during Tuesday night’s first meeting of September. Mayor Knebel says the finished sidewalk that is now in place in the area of Kaskaskia College looks very nice and new construction on the coming truck stop will not affect the project.
And Mayor Knebel clarified the current plan for the sidewalks to move eastward and connect to the Safe Routes to School going to 8th Street.
Earlier in the meeting during the consent agenda, the council approved a pay estimate from McCarthy Improvement Company for the ITEP Sidewalk project in the amount of $102, 070.28.
