(Effingham, IL) — Illinois State Police are releasing video of a deadly shooting in July at a church in Effingham. Authorities say security at St. John’s Lutheran Church contacted Effingham Police on July 5th to report a suspicious man inside the church wishing to speak with the pastor. Officers located Allen Gattino of St. Charles, Missouri and learned he arrived in a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Marion County. While attempting to restrain him, Gattino pulled out a firearm, which discharged and hit him. He was sent to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
