(Mattoon, IL) — The Mattoon Fire Department is offering an update to the building collapse downtown. The incident happened on Thursday near 19th Street and Western Avenue. No injuries were reported. A total of eight businesses occupied the building, with the smoke shop and Little Caesars sustaining most of the damage. The city will work with the structural engineer to determine the cause of the collapse.
