State Senator Jason Plummer was in Vandalia on Wednesday to address the monthly Greater Fayette County Chamber of Commerce. Senator Plummer, who tries to address the County Chamber at least once a year, recognizes that listening to community feedback is the best way to help make changes throughout the district.
And a big topic of discussion from Senator Plummer was the sponsorship of new legislation signed into law to strengthen transparency and accountability in the Department of Children & Family Services. The bill will amend the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act by requiring DCFS to include additional information in written notices of final determinations involving indicated findings of abuse or neglect. Senator Plummer is hoping that House Bill 4242 is something that he is hoping will open the door for other ethics discussions throughout the state.
House Bill 4242 will take effect on January 1, 2027.
