The Fayette County Board on Tuesday night had a short Finance meeting with just a couple items to discuss but both involved key needs of the county. It was brought up during their July monthly meeting that the server used to run about 12 major databases for the county would need to be upgraded soon. It was explained that the end of life for the current operating system of the server is set for January 2027 and the county needed to quickly take action and it was laid out that the different departments would kick in for the cost of the upgrade. On Tuesday night, Justin Greeley of Bellwether explained that the department heads all had money available to pay for the server and that the action they were looking to take concerning the server now is just to raise the amount the department heads are allotted in the budget to expend from their special funds so that they can make their contributions to the cost of the project. The board approved unanimously by a 12-0 vote to move the matter on to the board at its full monthly meeting in just a couple weeks.
