City of Vandalia Police Department to get new mobile radios, will get them off the “scanner”

The City of Vandalia Police Department is getting new mobile radios that will get them off the “scanner.”

During Monday’s Vandalia City Council meeting, the matter was discussed with Police Chief Jeff Ray telling the council this is a budgeted item.  He says this will get them off the “scanner,” and Chief Ray says that is safer for both the officers and for the public that contacts law enforcement.

The total cost for the new radios is $23,353.60 from Global Technical Systems.  The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office already has this style of mobile radios and now will be to set them up for communication with the Vandalia PD with their new radios.
