(Chicago, IL) — The Illinois Legislative Ethics Commission could soon release a report detailing the conduct of former state Representative Harry Benton. The commission voted to publish the legislative inspector general’s report on the investigation that prompted the Plainfield Democrat to resign earlier this month over sexual harassment allegations. Documents will be made public by July 31st after Benton and his accuser both are given a chance to review the report, suggest redactions and provide responses to the commission. The Chicago Tribune previously reported that Illinois House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch’s office knew about the allegations several years ago.
