We are now less than 1 month until the start of the new school year. And, that means the annual programs Tools for School and Backpack 2 School are just around the corner. Tools for School has been operating for nearly 30 years and provides basic school supplies to students in Fayette County, while Backpack 2 School gets free backpacks to students in attendance along with offering things like free haircuts. Gail DePaolo with Backpack 2 School and Judy Wasmuth with Tools for School talk about the number of students they were able to serve last year.
As for Tools for School, Wasmuth says they are still taking donations–either of school supplies or monetary donations.
Tools for School will be held August 5th from 4 pm to 7 pm, August 6th from 10 am to 5 pm, August 7th from 10 am to 5 pm and August 8th from 9 am to 11 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia. Backpack 2 School will be held on August 5th from 4 pm to 6 pm at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia.
