Remember those COVID-era laws that allowed for outdoor seating with outdoor alcohol sales and allowed for to-go cocktails with orders? Well, the state of Illinois made those laws permanent this year. And, the City of Vandalia officially caught up with all that at their meeting on Monday night.
City of Vandalia Attorney Ryan Connor explained the law takes care of what the state is going to regulate when it comes to 3rd parties carriers such as Door Dash deliveries of alcohol and adopts the standards for to-go cocktails and others. Mayor Doug Knebel asked Connor for a little clarification on what was allowed.
And, Connor gives a little reminder of what took place during COVID 5 years ago with these laws and that the state has now moved to make them permanent law.
Connor did point out to the City Council that this was not up to them as the state has passed it and imposing it upon everyone. The ordinance on Monday by the Vandalia City Council just officially adopted the state provisions and made them permanent.
