(Chicago, IL) — Illinois is boosting protections for the LGBTQ-plus community. In a social media post, Governor Pritzker spoke about signing three bills into laws.
The measures will prevent out-of-state parties from using medical records stored in Illinois to punish individuals for receiving gender-affirming care in the state. They also require insurance companies to cover up to six months of prescribed hormone therapy and establish the process for choosing a gender marker on Illinois IDs and driver’s licenses. The signing took place yesterday, as Pritzker attended the Chicago Pride Parade.
