After seeing some dry and mild day strung together after the Sunday severe storms, we now get ready to see some heavy rains likely starting tonight and carrying into Friday.
Our forecast for today calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high of 84. Then, showers and storms are likely for tonight with a low of 66.
In their latest weather briefing, the National Weather Service in St. Louis says heavy rain is forecast in the region late today through–likely tonight for our area. They add that a localized, narrow band of 3 to 5 inches of rain is possible between the I-70 and I-44 in Missouri corridor, but exactly where this band of heavy rain will set up is not certain but at least localized flooding is increasingly possible where it develops. As of this time, our area is looking at 2 to 3 inches of rain from the system, according to the latest NWS maps.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service says that potentially dangerous heat and humidity will arrive on Sunday and stay with us through next week.
