
As they set up some of their long range planning, Vandalia Mayor Doug Knebel says they do need to look at increased staffing in some areas for the city and there are some areas where they may not need as much personnel going forward.
During their June 15th Vandalia City Council meeting, a discussion was taking place and Alderman Steve Barker mentioned that about 90% of the culverts in the city were blocked up and needed to be cleaned out. Mayor Knebel pointed out some of this certainly came down to be short-staffed in some areas. Speaking during our podcast “Talking about Vandalia,” Mayor Knebel says they have just finished up talking about their long range planning for the City of Vandalia. And, he says staffing is something they will need to discuss further.
But, he also adds that doesn’t necessarily mean an increase in manpower, but potentially a shift from one department to another. But, he says there is going to be a need for getting some more manpower.
At the Personnel Committee meeting on June 15th, the City did hire Carl Sefton as a Laborer for the Streets Department and Andy Gelsinger as a Laborer for the Water Department.
