(Chicago, IL) — Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is revealing charges have been filed against 17 individuals accused of stealing state funds by defrauding the Medicaid program. Raoul’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is prosecuting the cases. The charges are part of a nationwide law enforcement effort that resulted in charges against 455 defendants across the country, including doctors and other licensed medical professionals, accused of healthcare fraud and opioid abuse schemes involving more than six-point-five-billion-dollars in false claims and significant patient harm.
