
We will be hot and humid again today with the threat of severe storms over the area for tonight.
We are looking at mostly sunny skies for today with a high of 92 and heat index values as high as 100. Winds from the south will increase during the day today and will up to 20 miles per hour this afternoon. For tonight we are looking at showers and thunderstorms with a low of 64.
Meanwhile, we have the threat of severe storms over the area today. In their latest weather briefing, the National Weather Service in St. Louis says that thunderstorms are expected again this afternoon through this evening and some of these will be strong to severe. The NWS says that damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes will be the primary threats. They do add that the speed at which thunderstorms congeal into a line will determine the longevity of the hail threat. As for a time line, the NWS says storms can be expected to arrive in our area after 9 pm tonight.
