
John T. Nesbit, 83, of Greenville, Illinois, passed away on May 30, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
John, the son of Chester and Betty (Tracy) Nesbit was born in Mulberry Grove, Illinois, on December 26, 1942. He was raised in Mulberry Grove and attended the Seagraves one room school and Mulberry Grove High School. He married the love of his life, Charlotte Reeves, on September 24, 1963, and they shared over 62 beautiful years together. In 2017, they moved to Greenville, Illinois to start the next chapter of their life.
Family was most important to John, as he liked spending time with all his children and grandchildren. He was a family man, a loving spouse, father, and grandfather. He provided for his family by working construction for 35 years in Local 397 in Granite City, Illinois, and as a hobby, he enjoyed raising cattle and pigs. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting and listening to older counter western music. He also belonged to the Church of Christ in Mulberry Grove for many years.
John is survived by his wife, Charlotte Nesbit of Greenville, Illinois; his children, Brian Nesbit of Mulberry Grove, Illinois, Eric Nesbit of Greenville, Illinois, Stephanie (Wes) Weder of Mulberry Grove, Illinois; grandchildren, Hannah (Logan) Dorries of Pocahontas, Illinois, Kayla Nesbit of Bement, Illinois, Ethan Nesbit of Vandalia, Illinois, Haley Blevins of Maryville, Tennessee, Josie Nesbit of Greenville, Illinois, Eli Nesbit of Greenville, Illinois, James Nesbit of Greenville, Illinois, Grant Weder of Mulberry Grove, Illinois, Jared Weder of Mulberry Grove, Illinois; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Rebecca Nesbit and Randall Nesbit; siblings, Mary Ann Phillips, Nancy Gannon, and Jim Nesbit.
Visitation: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm., June 3, 2026, at the Assalley Funeral Home, 118 East College Ave., Greenville, IL 62246.
Funeral Service: 1:00 pm., with Chaplain Samantha Paulin-Wieland officiating
Burial: Following the funeral service in Maxey Cemetery, Rural Smithboro, Illinois.
