With the calendar quickly pushing towards the official summer months, Vandalia will be gearing up for several events and one favorite will be getting several upgrades this year. Summerfest will return to Vandalia Lake over the Fourth of July holiday weekend and this year the event will kick off on July 2 and go through July 4. Vandalia Tourism Director Amber Daulbaugh says one thing she immediately got back to work on when taking the post back over was working on fireworks for the event.
With fireworks set to wrap up the night on July 2 and helping push it into a three-day event, Daulbaugh says the next biggest step came through earlier this year with a carnival.
Another major aspect of the Summerfest is the entertainment featured each night and Daulbaugh says they have a nice variety of musical acts lined up. We will hear from Daulbaugh about those as well as other activities set for the event coming up tomorrow on Newscenter.
