The first Vandalia Farmer’s Market and Picker’s Market held just over a week ago were a success and the City of Vandalia is gearing up for an even bigger market day coming up in June. Vandalia Economic Development and Tourism Director Amber Daulbaugh spoke last week about the first weekend and its changes with moving to Fifth Street, including the Picker’s Market for the day’s events and adding kid friendly events which Daulbaugh says hopefully makes it more of a family attraction.
And with the addition of the Picker’s Market, Daulbaugh said there were so many types of items available and she wants to work to move the Farmer’s Market part more towards fresh products and have the Picker’s Market be more for the other items as they continue to expand and offer more for all people with the events.
Next up for the Farmer’s Market and Picker’s Market will be their June weekend. The June theme will be “America’s Dairy Heritage: Honoring the Farms that Helped America” and it will feature the Fayette County Farm Bureau having their Milk Bx Giveaway with the first 300 families receiving the boxes. The June Markets are set for June 13th with the Famer’s Market on Fifth Street from 8:00am to Noon and the Picker’s Market on Gallatin Street from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
