VANDALIA, IL. — The City of Vandalia would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the student volunteers from Vandalia Community High School, Coach Jason Clay, Superintendent Jennifer Garrison, Tammy Westendorf, Kim Bogle, Theresa Knebel, Nathan Finley, and James Jackson for their assistance in refreshing the Downtown flower pots for the upcoming season.
The group volunteered their time and effort to remove old soil from the flower pots and replace it with fresh dirt, helping prepare Downtown Vandalia for spring and summer beautification efforts. Their willingness to step in and help with the hands-on work reflects the strong sense of community pride and teamwork found throughout Vandalia.
Tammy Westendorf and Kim Bogle, members of the Olde Tyme Christmas Committee, joined the effort alongside Theresa Knebel, wife of Mayor Doug Knebel, City employee James Jackson, and community volunteer Nathan Finley, who recently attended the Vandalia Farmers’ Market and expressed interest in supporting Downtown beautification projects. Their involvement, along with the participation of students, school leadership, and community members, highlights the collaborative spirit that continues to strengthen Vandalia.
City officials noted that partnerships like these help keep the community vibrant, welcoming, and beautiful for residents and visitors alike.
“This project may have been a little dirty, but it was a wonderful example of community members coming together to make a positive impact,” said City of Vandalia Director of Economic Development & Tourism Amber Daulbaugh. “We are incredibly thankful for
everyone who volunteered their time and energy to help make Downtown Vandalia bloom.”
The City of Vandalia looks forward to continued community partnerships as Downtown beautification efforts continue throughout the year.
