
Severe Storms are expected to strike the area this afternoon and this evening.
Our forecast for today calls for Showers and Thunderstorms with a high of 79. Winds out of the south will gust better than 20 miles per hour. Then, showers and storms tonight–we could see heavy rain–with a low of 53.
The National Weather Service in St. Louis says supercells capable of very large hail and strong tornadoes are expected during the afternoon and early evening hours. The NWS says later in the evening, the storms will tend to transition into a mixed mode of supercells and line segments. And, once this occurs, there could be a shift to damaging winds and generally weaker tornadoes. They do add there is still uncertainty on where and how quickly this transition will occur during the evening. The latest timeline from the National Weather Service has severe weather arriving in our area between 3 pm and 7 pm this afternoon and this evening.
