(Springfield, IL) — An investigation is underway after a person was hit and killed by a State Police Trooper in Springfield. Authorities say early Saturday, a trooper was traveling on South 6th Street approaching the green light at Linton Street in Springfield. A 45-year-old Springfield man was reportedly bent down in the roadway when he was hit by the Trooper’s squad car. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
