Progress is steadily moving along as construction on the new City of Vandalia Water Treatment Plant is ramping up with the good spring weather. Members of the media long with Vandalia Mayor Doug Knebel, City Administrator LaTisha Paslay, Water Plant Superintendent Joe Simpson and various representatives of Milano & Grunloh Engineers and Grunloh Building were on hand Tuesday for a tour of the progress on the plant led by Milano & Grunloh Primary Engineer and Project Manager Rex Gower. After the tour Gower spoke of the current project being the first project he began upon joining Milano & Grunloh several years ago and expressed his happiness over it coming to fruition.
During the tour, Simpson talked about the differences between the current water treatment plant and the new plant and Gower says he really thinks the new plant will be great for Vandalia.
As for where they are at in the estimated timeline that was put together at the beginning of construction, Gower says they believe they are ahead of schedule and on pace to be online later this year.
Among the new areas being worked on this week in the construction phase is the laying of lines that will be used in the process of bringing raw water from Vandalia Lake into the new plant.
