A proposal for a state constitutional amendment to impose a millionaire’s tax has been referred to the Illinois House Rules Committee.
State Rep. Natalie Manley filed House Joint Resolution Constitutional Amendment 21 last fall. The measure was referred to the House Rules Committee earlier this month.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker expressed support for the idea.
Republican Illinois House candidate Lori Smith says this is why she decided to run for office.
Smith is campaigning for the seat currently held by state Rep. Nabeela Syed, who is running for the Illinois Senate.
