One day after an Illinois state rep said there was no budget transparency from J.B. Pritzker’s office, the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget identified $481.6 million in reserves.
The governor issued an executive order last September, directing state agencies to reserve up to 4% of their general fund appropriations.
State Rep. Amy Elik said Wednesday that Republican requests for agency findings were denied.
Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie, R-Savanna, said a lot more than $481 million went to people who are in the country illegally.
Gov. Pritzker’s office said the reserves were identified to mitigate fiscal risk amid economic uncertainty driven by the Trump administration.
