After seeing some snowfall overnight, we could get a little more either today or tonight.
For today, we have a chance of snow this morning, then that will change to a chance of rain this afternoon as we’ll see a high of 43. Then, a chance of snow for tonight with a low of 21. Winds from the west will gust better than 20 miles per hour tonight. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says scattered showers are expected to develop across northeast Missouri and west central Illinois this afternoon and spread southeast into this evening. Precipitation is expected to initially be rain, but turn to snow as an Arctic cold front moves southeast through the area along with the showers. Widespread impacts to travel are not expected. However, there may be brief bursts of heavier snow with gusty winds in these showers resulting in reduced visibilities, isolated accumulations up to ½ inch, and slick spots on area roads.
Meanwhile, the area will see an extended cold snap beginning this weekend. We’ll see a high of 25 on Saturday and 27 on Sunday.
Sunrise today is at 7:13 am and sunset will be at 5 pm.
