(Washington, DC) — A federal judge is blocking the Trump administration from freezing nearly ten-billion-dollars in child care and social services funding to Democratic-led states, including Illinois. The temporary order issued Friday directs the administration to release the funds to the five states, including one-billion-dollars to Illinois. The order after the states filed a lawsuit against the administration over the funding freeze, and instructs the administration to disperse the funds for two weeks while the legal challenge continues. The other states include Minnesota, California, New York, and Colorado.
