A winter storm is still on the way to the area on Saturday.
Our weather forecast for tomorrow (Saturday) calls for snow before now–then rain mixing with some snow after that–with a high of 36. We could see heavy snow at times with new snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. The rain is then expected to change back to snow briefly on Saturday night with little or no additional accumulation with a low of 24 on Saturday night.
In the latest Weather Briefing from the National Weather Service in St. Louis it states accumulating snow is still expected across the entire area late tonight into Saturday. The heaviest snow is expected in northeast Missouri and west central Illinois–where they are under a Winter Storm Warning. Fayette County is under a Winter Weather Advisory. Snowfall rates of 1 inch to 1.5 inches per hour remain possible on Saturday morning. The snow is expected to fall as wet and heavy flakes and will be mixing with rain beginning after noon on Saturday. Snow may begin over our area as early as 3 am on Saturday morning and ending around 3 pm on Saturday afternoon. Many of the maps show a wide range of snow for our area, so there is still some uncertainty in how much snow we will see before the transition to rain.
