In their latest Weather Briefing, the National Weather Service in St. Louis says a storm system may bring a wintry mix of rain and snow to the area on Friday night and into Saturday. The NWS says the best chance for accumulating snow at this point will be across northeast Missouri and west central Illinois. The NWS says they are still uncertain about several factors with this system. They are confident that a storm system will move across the area early in the weekend and bring widespread precipitation to the area, with Friday night and Saturday looking to the be the time frame. But, they add the system is still a few days away, to the exact track of the storm is still uncertain. Also, the storm is expected to bring a mix of rain and snow to the area, so the track of the system will still determine if any one location will see rain, snow, or a mix of both. They also add the track of the storm will also determine precipitation amounts and the temperature which will result in the snowfall amounts. The NWS says it is still too early to forecast any exact snowfall amounts.
