The City of Vandalia’s annual audit shows the city to be in good financial shape.
During Monday meeting, Patricia Elam of Timmermann and Company presented the City’s annual audit. For the fiscal year, the general fund shows revenues of $5,632,407 and expenditures of $5,581,675. That left the city with $50,732 to the good for the fiscal year and with an overall fund balance in the general fund of $9,131,017.
Speaking during our weekly podcast, “Talking about Vandalia,” Mayor Doug Knebel says he did inherit a good financial situation and they will work to keep it that way.
While presenting the audit, Elam did point out that expenses were up for many of the city’s departments, but the revenues were there to cover the additional costs. As reported on Tuesday, the City of Vandalia plans to pass a tax levy for the new fiscal year with no increase.
