As the Liberty Theatre Foundation begins to gain some steam in their work to rebuild and reopen the one-time downtown landmark as a performing arts center, two key fundraisers are currently underway. The first is the Walk of Fame which allows people or groups to purchase star pavers that will adorn the sidewalk in front of the theatre when it is reopened. Liberty Theatre Foundation President Dana Leskera says they have even issued a challenge to go along with the fundraiser.
The second fundraiser currently going on is in conjunction with Witness Distillery who has donated a barrel of bourbon to the foundation with special bottles being sold with a custom Liberty Theatre label and proceeds going to the restoration and reopening of the theatre. The foundation is also getting a boost from the Vandalia Historical Society.
The Vandalia Historical Society will present the foundation with their donation at the annual Gala to be held next month.
