PJM Interconnection announced energy prices are expected to go up 1.5 to 5% year-over-year for many customers. Governor J.B. Pritzker said PJM hasn’t put wind and solar projects on the grid as fast as it should and even blamed the Trump Administration for stepping away from subsidizing such energy prices.
PJM has said supply is decreasing due to state and federal decarbonization policies and some economics. Asked about expanding nuclear generation in Illinois, Governor Pritzker said he’s for it.
Last year, Governor Pritzker approved lifting Illinois’ nuclear moratorium to allow small modular nuclear reactors. Some are pushing for the moratorium to be lifted even further.
