The Vandalia City Council on Monday night approved TIF funds for a Vandalia business owner who is building a new location for his business.
The business is Quality Diesel Services that is currently located at 2052 Wagner Street in Vandalia and has been there since 2011. Business Owner Bill Overton says they have outgrown their current location and they purchased property a couple of years ago with the intent of building a new shop on the new property that would give them roadside frontage off of U.S. Route 51. He says they will have an entrance off of 8th Street and possibly off of the former Long John Silver’s property. The new building will be 60 feet by 120 feet with 6 entry doors. Twenty-five percent of the total project comes out to $295,000. The TIF Committee recommended giving $200,000 in flat grant payable over 2 years and also abatement of property taxes of not more than $95,480 over 11 years. The Vandalia City Council approved the recommendation from the TIF Committee for the project.
