We were hit with heavy rains and lot of lightning around the area all night on Sunday night.
The heavy rains and lightning led to Flash Flood Warnings for the northern half of the county. We still have a Flood Watch in effect until 1 pm today. And, the Kaskaskia River in Vandalia is under a Flood Warning until Friday morning at 6 am.
Then, extreme heat is on the way. An Extreme Heat Watch is currently in effect for the area from Tuesday through Thursday. We are expecting to see heat index readings of well over 100 during that time with temperatures at 90 or better going into the upcoming weekend.
