(Chicago, IL) — Another big name Democrat is backing Illinois Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton in her bid to replace retiring U.S. Senator Dick Durbin. Illinois House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch has endorsed the Chicago native. Welch described Stratton as a proven leader. Stratton announced her Senate run a day after Durbin said he wouldn’t seek a sixth term. Governor Pritzker and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth have already endorsed her candidacy.
