Judge Denies Madigan’s Request For New Trial

(Chicago, IL) — A federal judge is rejecting Michael Madigan’s request for a new trial. The judge denied a motion yesterday filed by the former Illinois House Speaker’s lawyers seeking to overturn his conviction on bribery and other corruption counts. The ruling comes just days before Madigan is set to be sentenced on Friday. Federal prosecutors have asked for a 12-and-a-half year prison sentence.
