The City of Vandalia’s next Economic Development Director will be an appointment of the Mayor after the Vandalia City Council approved the hiring change at last week’s meeting.
Originally, the Economic Development Director was appointment by the Mayor. But, then that was changed to make it a hiring that went through the City Council’s Personnel Committee. But, it was suggested by Alderman Bob Bowen—who is the head of the Personnel Committee—to make this change to help speed up the process. But, Alderman Ken Hubler still had some concerns that were addressed by City Attorney Ryan Connor.
The matter was approved by a unanimous vote in the end. It was also mentioned they are currently 10 applications for the vacant Economic Development Director’s position.
