Former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan’s conviction is not the end of the road for federal prosecutors and investigators.
More than a decade passed from the beginning of the Madigan investigation to last Wednesday, when a jury found him guilty on ten corruption-related counts.
Morris Pasqual, acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, said enormous amounts of time and resources went into investigating and prosecuting the Madigan case.
Pasqual was asked if the Madigan verdict might finally get the message to politicians who commit corrupt acts.
Leaders from the Chicago offices of the FBI and the IRS joined Pasqual in announcing Madigan’s conviction.
