Both State Senator Jason Plummer & State Representative Blaine Wilhour responded to the guilty verdict against former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan—
State Senator Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville) released the following statement regarding the guilty verdict against former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.
“This guilty verdict was well-deserved. Unfortunately, the problems in Illinois politics go deeper than just one man, we have an ongoing culture of corruption. We need action now to put true ethics reforms into place to save Illinoisans from the culture that has been perpetuated by Madigan, Pritzker, and their allies who are still in power.”
State Rep. Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) released the following statement on the announcement by federal prosecutors on ten (10) guilty verdicts out of 23 charges in the Michael J. Madigan bribery case:
“Mike Madigan deserved his guilty verdict. I hope they throw him in prison. He is a corrupt, self-serving politician who has done tremendous damage to our state.
Almost as bad, his hand-picked successor, despite presiding over the most corrupt General Assembly in the nation, has passed zero anti-corruption reforms. We should be asking why.”
