There was some more discussion on ambulance service and the possibility of a contract for Fayette County at Tuesday night’s Fayette County Board meeting.
Last week, a committee of individuals from around the county met to discuss the best way to go about getting an ambulance service contract in place for Fayette County. Rural Med EMS stated at that meeting they do need some form of financial assistance at this time. Several options were discussed, including an option of all of the municipalities in the county chipping in funds. At the end of that meeting, it was determined to have the matter discussed by the Fayette County Board and get their opinion. County Board Member Merrell Collins, who is a member of the committee working on attempting to secure an ambulance contract, filled the board in on what was discussed at the meeting. He says he still has concerns about the county entering into any type of exclusive agreement.
Fayette County Board Chairman Jacob Harris said when the matter was discussed in the past, he didn’t feel they were left with a whole lot of options.
But, City of Vandalia Alderman Kenny Lewey, who is also a member of the committee, said he truly believes they can come up with a contract that will work for everyone in Fayette County.
The Fayette County Board referred the matter off to Committee 4, which deals with Emergency Management among other things, for further discussion on the matter.
