A Committee that will be looking to secure a contract for ambulance service in Fayette County will meet this week.
The committee will be made up of the Mayors of Fayette County communities, the Chiefs of Police and Fire Chiefs, the EMA Director, 911 Director, the County Board Chairman and a representative from the Fayette County Board and the Vandalia City Council. The first meeting will be held on Thursday at 6 pm at Vandalia City Hall.
The group will be working to secure ambulance service for Fayette County through a contract or agreement. Rural Med EMS provides Fayette County with ambulance service, but they have no contract in place of any kind at this time. The issue has been one that has been discussed for quite some time and many have expressed concern over the situation, including Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray and Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman.
