The jury has completed its first full day of deliberations at the corruption trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and codefendant Michael McClain.
Jurors sent four notes to Judge John Robert Blakey on Thursday. Three were related to scheduling. The other asked for highlighters and sticky notes.
Defense attorneys have argued that Madigan and McClain provided job recommendations and exchanged legal favors.
Chicago attorney Sam Adam Jr. says that alone does not constitute bribery.
Adam said Madigan might have hurt himself by testifying and facing cross-examination.
The jury planned to continue deliberating on Friday.
