Vandalia High School junior Chaya Briggs will be representing the school and community this week with her vocal talents on the statewide stage as she has been chosen as a member of the All-State Choir. Back in November, Briggs as well as Andey Klitzsch, Jacob Gibson, Amalie Weihrauch and Cora Moore were all selected to represent VJHS and VCHS in the ILMEA District Treble and Full Choirs at Eastern Illinois University. While participating at the district level at EIU, students are given the opportunity to audition for the All-State and Honor Choruses and following those auditions, it was announced that Briggs had been selected for the All-State Chorus. Chaya will travel to Peoria this week, leaving on Wednesday and will then perform with the full All-State Choir on Saturday afternoon at 1pm at the Peoria Civic Center. They will perform six selection on their own before the Combined Finale will have the All-State and Honors Choirs all perform together.
