Several of Michael Madigan’s former aides have testified for the defense team at the former Illinois House speaker’s corruption trial.
Illinois appeals court Justice and ex-Madigan counsel David Ellis testified Monday, followed by another former Madigan counsel, Justin Cox.
In a wiretapped call on May 9, 2018, codefendant Michael McClain instructed lobbyist Nancy Kimme about a Chinatown land transfer.
In February of 2019, McClain told Madigan that legislation for the power sector would start and end in the House.
Madigan and McClain are facing 23 counts of bribery, racketeering and official misconduct.
