Fayette County, IL – With temperatures expected to drop significantly, the Fayette County Emergency Management Agency (FCEMA) is working with other agencies to open warming shelters throughout the county to provide relief from the cold. These shelters are available to all residents who need a safe and warm place to stay during extreme weather conditions. Should anyone need assistance please contact 618-283-2141 or dial 911 in an emergency.
Locations and Hours of Operation:
- First United Methodist Church The Barn – 127 N 4th St, Vandalia, IL 62471
- Brownstown Fire Department – 306 E Cumberland Rd. Brownstown, IL 62418
- St. Peter Fire Department – 301 E 3rd St. St. Peter, Illinois 62880
Residents are encouraged to utilize these shelters to ensure their safety and well-being.
Important Notice:
- Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- Pets may not be allowed inside the shelters, with the exception of service animals. Please plan accordingly for pet care.
- Residents are advised to bring blankets, snacks, and any necessary medications.
“Our priority is keeping everyone in the community safe,” said Jacob Harris,” County Board Chairperson. “We urge anyone in need to take advantage of these warming shelters and encourage neighbors to check on one another during this cold spell.”
