The Vandalia City Council decided to hold off on any action on the 8th and Randolph intersection.
Mayor Rick Gottman received a letter from a citizen concerned about the intersection. Alderman Bob Bowen says he has added concern with Evans Public Library soon opening their new location near that intersection that could lead to additional traffic. But, Alderman Mike Hobler was opposed to making the intersection a four way stop. And, Alderman Bret Brosman was also opposed.
Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray says there have been 3 accidents at the intersection in the last 3 years. Chief Ray say that was about average for a busy intersection. Bowen moved to table the matter until after the library opens and then see if there was added traffic and if it warrant an added stop sign.
